A few days ago on WiiUDaily.com they announce that they have started development on the new Smash Bros. Kotaku's journalist Brian Ashcraft noticed something on Nintendo's website in the messages put out by Sora's Masahiro Sakurai and Namco's Masaya Kobayashi. He noticed that Masahiro Sakurai will be in charge of the project but Namco's team will be the ones developing it entirely.
Quoted here Masaya Kobayashi says:
Looks like Namco is really taking this serious. With the heads of people from all the other projects it sure looks like or at least I want to see a character or two for all those games. Imagine Link vs Wing Zero vs Jin vs Donkey Kong. Or Pacman Ghost vs Bowser vs Nightmare vs Pokemon Trainer or how about Lloyd Irving vs Roy vs Zelda/Sheik vs Sheena Fujibayashi. This could be a huge HUGE game. This could be the straw that broke the camels back and get me to actually pick up the console if it is and most likely will be a WiiU exclusive. I may not be some ultra-crazy-awesome-super-technical tournament fighter that can tell how many frames per second each move takes but I do love fighting games and I do love crossovers. Did I mention this game could be huge?
"In order to make Mr. Sakurai proud, we will take on this project with NAMCO BANDAI's best staff! Yoshito Higuchi, the producer and the director of the "Tales" series, Tetsuya Akatsuka, producer and director of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs.," the art director/sound director of the "SoulCalibur" series, the main development team staff from the "TEKKEN" series…and that's just for starters. All the top creators from NAMCO BANDAI are gathered here to create a never-before-seen dream team for this project. We will fully utilize our experience and knowledge in action/fighting game development, technical capability, and organizational strength, and we hereby promise you that we will develop the best and most powerful "Super Smash Bros." title ever! Don't miss it!"
CAN'T WAIT!!
