There are 2 versions of the tablet. There's the Surface for Windows RT and the Surface for Windows 8 Pro.
The biggest difference the OS running on each. In comparison with the New iPad the the Surface for Windows RT is on par with its thickness and weight at 9.3mm and 676g but lacking in the battery department. It will be available with 32GB or 64GB. The Surface for Windows 8 Pro is significantly bigger and heavier at 13.5mm and 903g but competes with the New iPad with a 42 watt-hour. The Surface for Windows 8 Pro will also have stylus pen along with a palm block so it will know if you are resting your palm on the tablet allowing you to draw or write without worry. Word on if the pen will be as pressure sensitive and as artist friendly as a Wacom is still not mentioned. It will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
With Microsoft's E3 announcement of SmartGlass I believe they may incorporate that with the Surface.
No date or prices have been released to the public yet but Microsoft mentioned that the prices are close to an ultrabook. So we're looking around $1000 or more.
